Sharp was nominated on March 18th at the specially held Republican Party Convention held at Walker Valley High School.  Mike Sharp, Republican announced that he has accepted the nomination of the Republican Party and is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge for the 10th Judicial District. 

Sharp has been an attorney in the firm of Varnell, Burns & Sharp, P.C. for the past eighteen years. When he first joined the firm he was a partner with Robert Varnell until Varnell’s death in 1993. Sharp has continued as a partner with Charles B. Burns, Jr. for the last 17 years.

 “My family and I were greatly humbled when so many citizens from the 10th Judicial District registered as delegates and nominated me to be the Republican candidate.” I humbly accept the nomination and announce today that I will be a candidate for Circuit Court Judge.”

Upon graduating with honors from the University of Tennessee Law School in 1989, Sharp returned to Cleveland where he developed a practice with a focus on civil law.  In addition to his practice, Sharp is actively involved as a Deacon of First Baptist Church of Cleveland and various other community programs. 

In his eighteen years of practice, Sharp has served as a substitute Judge and has served as a volunteer Campus Court Judge for various schools in Bradley County. 

“I am committed to maintaining the highest level of honesty, fairness and integrity as Circuit Court Judge,” Sharp said.  “I will strive to give every citizen my full attention and their fair day in Court.”

Sharp said that his campaign has launched a website at www.votemikesharp.com which will provide campaign updates and offer voters the opportunity to volunteer to assist the campaign. 

“I ask the voters of this community to assist me in this effort and humbly ask for their vote and support.” 

The 10th Judicial District consists of Bradley, McMinn, Polk and Monroe counties.  The General Election will be held on August 7, 2008 with early voting beginning July 18 and running through August 2, 2008.
